“Abdomen comes from the Latin word for belly. Abdominal surgery embraces all operations that are related to the inside wall of the belly or abdomen (inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, incisional hernia …) and its organs (appendix, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine …). Slimming or bariatric surgery (gastric ring, gastric sleeve, gastric bypass surgery, redo bariatric surgery …) herein included good medical follow-up and consultancy on post-surgery nutrition is an indivisible part of the so called abdominal surgery. That is on all levels what I have been practising for years now as a surgeon, in which I gradually excelled and what has become my everyday life: my fight against obesity!

Most of my interventions are done with minimal invasive surgical techniques ('laparoscopic techniques' or the so called 'keyhole surgery') and SILS procedures ('Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery' or a "single incision surgery…"). Practising surgery with these techniques causes less pain, allows a fast recovery and, last but not least, requires less time in hospital for the patient. That is the reason why I adopted them to practice them on almost all of my surgical interventions.”
